Southeast Louisiana Legal Services (SLLS) is not your attorney just because you fill out this form. SLLS is only processing cases to refer to attorneys. You will only have an attorney when you get a call or letter from an attorney saying she or he is representing you with your Road Home title problem.

What if Southeast Louisiana Legal Services (SLLS) and/or New Orleans Legal Assistance (NOLAC) is handling a case against me (a case where the person on the other side is represented by SLLS or NOLAC)?

If you know that Southeast Louisiana Legal Services or New Orleans Legal Assistance is handling a case against you, please do not fill this out this form. Our responsibilities as lawyers are the following: we will not give this information to the attorney in our office who is handling the legal case against you. We will continue to handle the case against you.
How does the e-mail application process work?
Filling out and e-mailing this form does not create an attorney-client relationship with SLLS. The online form only starts your application for help.
There are four (4) steps to getting free legal help for a legal problem related to a Road Home application.
Step #1:

Step #2:
SLLS must verify your income with the state.
Step #3:
Your case is referred to an attorney by SLLS.
Step #4: If the state is unable to verify your income information, you must bring to the attorney documents to show that your income information is correct.
What will this legal help cost?
This program for legal assistance with Road Home title issues is for low-income people. Our legal services are free if you qualify. But you will have to pay court costs and this could be several hundred dollars. All of that money goes to the courts. None of it is paid to your attorney.
What if the Road Home program told me I don't qualify for benefits?
Call or go to your nearest Legal Services office right away!

If Road Home told you that you are not eligible for benefits, call or go to your nearest legal services office for help. There are time limits for appealing a Road Home decision. Do not miss your deadlines. We are not responsible if you missed a deadline while we are processing your application for help with title issues.

We will send you a letter or e-mail to let you know we received your application electronically.
